The Model Portfolio Small Cap Discoveries was updated this weekend. New Adds of 6 stocks were made and Removals of 5 stocks were made. All prices are as of 09/22/2023. A total of 25 stocks are in the Portfolio now.
The Portfolio continues to outpace its benchmark, IJR, by a wide margin. The Portfolio is up over 14% for the year.
BackTest – The Backtest for this Portfolio outperformed the IJR benchmark in 15 out of the 19 years tested. It underperformed in years 2008, 2015, 2017 and 2019. When the Portfolio outperformed, it was usually by a wide margin. The best year was 2009 when it was up by 127%.
Add – DTC, FLWS, LFVN, SCYX, VIRC, VRA
Remove – BWEN, CRMT, CTG, MTW, ULBI
Noteworthy are TAST (added 4/21/2023) and ORN (added 8/18/2023). They are currently up 70% and 63% respectively. TAST and ORN were both retained by the software for another month in this update.
